The First Meeting of the Sherwood Sub-Committee

Church of the Transfiguration

Presided over by the Reverend A. R. Browne Wilkinson, the first meeting of the Sherwood Sub-Committee of the Daybrook Parochial Church Council was held in the vestry of the Church of the Transfiguration at 8 pm on Monday the 12th of March 1923.

As it was the first meeting of the Sherwood Sub-Committee the item on the subcommittee's agenda was General Matters where the Rev. A. R. Browne Wilkinson referred to the constitutional position of the sub-committee where it was minuted as the Rev. A. R. Browne Wilkinson having said, the various matters with which the Sherwood Sub-Committee would have to deal with indicated in general terms the lines on which the members should work. The question of finance was also dealt with where it was decided that it should be left to the Chairman, the Treasurer and Mr Stevens (member of the sub-committee) to formulate a financial scheme.

It was also decided by the Parochial Church Council (St. Paul Church, Daybrook) that two of the additional Church Councillors whom it was proposed to co-opt should be selected by the Sherwood Sub-Committee. It was decided to postpone the matter for the present, however, two members were co-opted to serve on the Sherwood Sub-Committee; but not as members of the Parochial Church Council.

Finally, before the conclusion of the meeting of the Sherwood Sub-Committee, two members were elected as Treasurer and Secretary respectively.
