Excerpt from the meeting of the Sherwood Sub-Council

Thursday 24th November 1925


Arising out of the minutes the Chairman read a letter from the Revd. E. Lysons the prospective priest in charge of the new ecclesiastical district of Sherwood which was to the effect that the Nottingham Church Extension Council was prepared to make up his stipend to £350 per annum provided the Sub-Council of the Church of the Transfiguration would pass a resolution agreeing to find £50 a year towards the clergy fund.


On the proposition of Mr. Banks (Council member) and seconded by Mrs. Cree (Council member) it was resolved that the Secretary be instructed to provide the necessary document the terms of which follow:


At a meeting of the Sherwood Sub Committee of the Church of the Transfiguration held on the 24th of November 1925 it was unanimously agreed that the Sub Council should guarantee to contribute from the funds the sum of £50 (fifty pounds) per annum towards the stipend of the Priest in Charge of the Church of the Transfiguration it being understood that such stipend is to be fixed by the Diocesan Authorities at £350 (2025 worth £17,923.36p) per annum in all.
